Whats the difference between a Vest, Bodywarmer or Gilet?
The word 'gilet' (pronounced jee·lay) and 'bodywarmer' (or body warmer) are generally used interchangeably these days but technically a bodywarmer is a more insulated outer layer and a gilet is a thinner sleeveless garment which can be worn as a middle layer under a coat, like a waistcoat in a suit. Vest is an 'Americanism' which is an umbrella term for bodywarmer, gilet and waistcoat.
